Art meets Biodiversity
Artist: Anna Taut and Pascal „Kkade“ Flühmann in collaboration with InUrFaCE e.V.

In August 2025, artists Anna Taut and Pascal “Kkade” Flühmann created this beautiful mural in Hamburg Eimsbüttel.
The two large-format fieldfares bring the beauty and vulnerability of nature to Hamburg's cityscape. The ornamental frame with the lettering “MAGISTRA” alludes to the Latin phrase “Natura est artis magistra” (“Nature is the teacher of art”).
The project was initiated by the InUrFaCE e. V. association, which brought together researchers from the Leibniz Institute for Biodiversity Change Analysis with Anna and Pascal. A joint workshop provided the concept.
Since Hamburg has not yet had a mural with a clear reference to biodiversity, this is not only a unique work, but also a visible place for public dialogue about the importance of nature in urban spaces.
Lucas Mainka captured our most beautiful moments with his cameras.
Many thanks to Hans Pfau Nachlass Grundstücksverwaltung for providing us with the façade and to the Dr. Hans Riegel-Foundation and Union Investment for their generous financial support.
